Over the past two decades, the Felix Ritort lab has been a worldwide reference in researching the energetics and nonequilibrium behavior of small systems using statistical physics and single-molecule methods.
By merging theory and advanced experimental techniques, we extract valuable information about molecular processes: from the nanothermodynamics of nucleic acids and proteins to the binding kinetics in proteins, peptides and macromolecular structures. By testing nonequilibrium theories in biomolecules and cells, we unravel the principles of energy and information in biology.
Our lab is member of the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (IN²UB) and the Department Condensed Matter Physics, Faculty Physics, at the University of Barcelona.
